Series Profile: Evil Comes to CBS

What Is It?

Evil is a new supernatural drama that debuts on CBS in Fall 2019. Following is the official synopsis of the shows:

EVIL is a psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion. The series focuses on a skeptical female psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a carpenter as they investigate the Church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and hauntings. Their job is to assess if there is a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.

Series Premiere

The series will air on CBS at 10 pm EST on Thursdays and will have its premiere on September 26th.

Status

The Thursday 10 PM EST timeslot is not a good one for CBS, especially following two hours of sitcoms which do not provide the best lead-in for a rather dark, supernatural drama. This show will face an uphill battle on a genre-averse network. But it is owned by CBS and if it sticks to its procedural formula (the network prefers shows that don’t take too many chances), it could possibly hold on for a second season.
