Why Did It End? George Lucas originally envisioned at least a hundred episodes for this series and it made to that point and beyond.  But it was truncated without a formal conclusion because of the Disney buyout of the Star Wars franchise.  Clone Wars was still doing well enough in the ratings and had a pretty loyal following, but Disney’s decision to end the series was mostly about cleaning house and prepping the franchise to move forward (specifically to Star Wars Rebels, a property that they own, not one they inherited).  There were some “bonus content” episodes produced that eventually comprised a sixth season of the shows (and they are currently available for streaming along with the entire series on Netflix), but these did not quite provide the story wrap up that many of the fans were hoping for.
