Sci Fi TV News of Note:

SciTrek has been tracking the status of a Stargate revival and recently reported some disappointing news. We already knew that the planned movie had been scrapped, but it looked like a television series revival would be going forward on MGM+. However, Amazon could be changing its plans for that streaming service and cutting funding. The new Stargate series was supposed to be the flagship for that streamer, which means its status is now uncertain. You can watch the full coverage from SciTrek at this link.

The long-awaited second season of Apple TV+’s corporate dystopian series Severance has finally wrapped up filming.  It will be going into post-production now and could arrive on the streamer by the end of the 2024.

A spin-off to Netflix’s The Witcher based on the group known as the Rats had allegedly been in development, but it appears that will not go forward at this time.  Word is that it will be incorporated into the upcoming fourth season of that show.  Netflix has announced the fifth season as the show’s last and may not be interested in additional spin-offs at this time.

RIP to Terry Carter who passed away just recently at age 95.  He is best known to genre fans for playing Colonel Tigh on the original Battlestar: Galactica.

Sci Fi TV Trailers

Reginald the Vampire (Syfy): Reginald Andres finally got his life together – when he was turned into a vampire. While he doesn’t fit into the stereotypical expectations of what a vampire looks like – he’s not chiseled or classically handsome – Reginald has found his place amongst an unlikely cohort that includes the cool vampire who sired him, the former vampire chieftain turned unexpected ally (or is she?), and his co-worker/former girlfriend. A show with a lot of heart and just enough blood, “Reginald the Vampire” proves the undead life is just as complicated as life itself. Season 2 premieres May 8th.

  1. MGM+ is also home to Beacon 23 which while not perfect is enjoyable enough that I’d like to see it continue. Looks like this news is another indication that it likely will not do so. Shame – not much halfway decent space based scifi out there nowadays
