Sci Fi TV Premieres: A rundown of all the new and returning sci fi and fantasy TV shows and original movies that will have a premiere in the current month. This information is based on premieres announced at the time of this posting (though check back for updates) and will include trailers if available. Note that premiere dates and times can change with little or no notice.
After several months with only a few premieres for sci fi and fantasy TV shows, October turns things around with thirteen as of this writing (and a lucky number for the Halloween month). This includes vampires, homunculi, monsters beneath the water, the return of Vision, the return to the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, adult animation, and more. In addition, there are four original movies premiering in the month, all on the Shudder streaming service. So buckle in as we deliver the super-sized preview of the month.
Coven Academy (Season 1), October 1st
Coven Academy, Freefrom: This series follows three teenage witches and their charming warlock peers as they face deadly secrets, dangerous power and forbidden love while ancient forces threaten their city. Premieres October 1st at 8 PM EST with new episodes streaming next day on Hulu and Disney+.
Infirmary ORIGINAL MOVIE, October 2nd
Infirmary, Shudder: A guard vanished on his first night at an old psych hospital in 2023. His bodycam footage shows unexplainable incidents that continue to baffle investigators. Premieres October 2nd.
Get Jiro (Season 1), October 3rd
Get Jiro, Adult Swim: In a futuristic LA, mysterious sushi chef Jiro sets out on a quest for vengeance. Premieres October 3rd at Midnight EST with new episodes streaming next day on HBO Max.
Carrie (Mini-Series), October 7th
Carrie, Prime Video: After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence. Premieres October 7th.
Small Prophets (Season 1), October 7th
Small Prophets, Apple TV: Join the eccentric Michael Sleep as he dabbles in alchemy to investigate the dissapearance of his partner Clea, in between shifts in the DIY Store. Premieres October 7th.
Below (Mini-Series), October 8th
Below, Netflix: When a mysterious sea creature starts terrorizing a coastal town, a fisherman must fight to protect his family and his community’s vanishing way of life. Premieres October 8th.
Eternally Yours (Season 1), October 8th
Eternally Yours, CBS: This series follows a once-passionate vampire couple who have hit a romantic rut after several hundred years of matrimony. Though their relationship, their routines, and their coven have become dullsville, the arrival of their daughter’s human boyfriend may be just what they need to liven things up. Premieres October 8th at 8:30 PM EST with new episodes streaming next day on Paramount+.
Avatar: Seven Havens (Season 1), October 9th
Avatar: Seven Havens, Paramount+: A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – a title that marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Premieres October 9th.
V/H/S/Mixtape ORIGINAL MOVIE, October 9th
V/H/S/Mixtape, Shudder: V/H/S/Mixtape cranks the franchise’s signature found-footage horror up to eleven with an electrifying new anthology where music and sound become the source of terror. United by a theme that explores the power of music, rhythm, and audio to haunt, possess, transform, and destroy, the film blends cosmic horror, psychological suspense, outrageous splatter, and groundbreaking practical effects into one unforgettable mixtape of nightmares. Premieres October 9th.
Helluva Boss (Season 3), October 14th
Helluva Boss, Prime Video: This adult animated comedy follows the misadventures, hijinks, and relationships of the Immediate Murder Professionals (or I.M.P. for short)– a band of demon assassins from Hell who kill people on Earth for a living. Premieres October 14th.
VisionQuest (Mini-Series), October 14th
VisionQuest, Disney+: After escaping those who wished to weaponize him, Vision lives in hiding while searching for a true sense of identity and purpose. His quiet life ends when a bounty is placed on his head, forcing him on the run. Premieres October 14th.
Crystal Lake (Season 1), October 15th
Crystal Lake, Peacock: A prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, the series follows single mother Pam Voorhees who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events are set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees? Premieres October 15th.
Hallowarrior ORIGINAL MOVIE, October 16th
Hallowarrior, Shudder: Pumpkin, the last girl on earth and sole survivor of a humanity-ending plague, scavenges the wasteland for supplies on the eve of Halloween. Her lonely holiday ritual is interrupted by the arrival of a savage gang of raiders at her doorstep led by the fearsome Thalia. Outnumbered and armed with candy, wit and weapons, Pumpkin must ferociously fight back to survive the night. Premieres October 16th.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Season 2), October 20th
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Netflix: The series tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in Night City — a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk. Season 2 premieres October 20th.
Yaga (Season 1), October 23rd
Yaga, Netflix: In this psychological descent into witchcraft, power, and seduction, two investigators unlock dark secrets after questioning a mysterious professor about a missing student. Premieres October 23rd.
The Cycle ORIGINAL MOVIE, October 23rd
The Cycle, Shudder: When the body of a man missing for thirty-six years is discovered at the scene of a horrific crime, it’s up to his estranged daughter to unravel his dark past. Premieres October 23rd.
Ghosts Halloween Special, October 29th
Ghosts, CBS: Prior to its Winter 2027 Season 6 premiere, this show will return with a one-hour Halloween special episode that airs on October 29th.
