Amazon Has Given Invincible an Early Season 6 Renewal

Amazon’s superhero series Invincible is proving to be quite… invincible as the streamer has given it an early sixth season renewal, making it Prime Video’s longest-running animated series. That one–based on the Robert Kirkman comic of the same name–has performed well in viewership, with its recent fourth season showing up seven weeks in a row in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings this Spring, averaging an estimated 504 million minutes of viewing per week during that time. It has now gone well beyond the typical three-to-four seasons we see from streaming originals, and Kirkman previously said that he would like for it to go seven or eight years to cover the comic book storylines. The sixth-season renewal gets the show closer to that goal, and perhaps Amazon will let it keep going.

The renewal was announced by Kirkman at the Annecy Animation Festival and he also revealed that a veteran of Amazon’s other popular superhero series The Boys will be jumping onboard with Invincible. Jack Quaid will be joining the voice cast in the fifth season, and he will be voicing the character Gravitator/Chris. This series has put out a new season about every year, so the fifth season should arrive mid to late 2027.

Since Invincible already counted as renewed, this announcement will factored into the 2026-27 season numbers. For the current season we are at 34 renewed sci fi and fantasy entries (59% of shows tracked) vs. 14 cancelled and ending (24%). You can see the breakdown of the numbers and the full list of shows for the current and prior seasons on our Cancellation Watch Page.

Invincible focuses on the titular hero who is the son of the powerful superhero Omni-Man. But as he starts up his career as a crime fighter, he learns that his father has some dark secrets in his past. The voice cast includes Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J. K. Simmons, Zachary Quinto, and Gillian Jacobs and it is based on the long-running comic of the same name by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

We are coming to the end of the current season, and there are still quite a few shows waiting for word on their fates. Be be sure to stay tuned to CancelledSciFi.com and our social media sites for the latest updates on all the current sci fi and fantasy shows.
