Sci Fi TV Production Report: Tracking the sci fi and fantasy shows currently moving into development/production based on the listings from Production Weekly. Note that appearing on that list does not guarantee that the series will move forward.
Following are the genre entries of note included in the listings for April 2nd and 9th:
Robocop (Amazon)
An entry for this property is showing up in the latest Production Weekly listings, and that syncs up with news that Amazon MGM Studios has given the greenlight to a new TV series in the franchise. A reboot TV series was first announced a few years back with Peter Ocko (Pushing Daisies) and James Wan (M3GAN) attached, though it is unclear if they are still involved. Word is that the series will go back to the look and feel of the original film that mixed sci fi, action, and satire, and presumably it will stream on Prime Video. No further details are available at this point, but stay tuned as this is a developing story.
Harry Potter Season 2 (HBO)
The first season of the Harry Potter reboot series–to be titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone–is set to arrive in December 2026 (you can see the teaser at this link), and work has already begun on the second season, with it showing up in Production Weekly last week. HBO boss Casey Bloys confirmed that saying the following:
Our goal is to not have a huge gap, you know, especially because the kids are growing. It’s not going to be an annual; the show is too big and too massive. But … they’re writing the season two now.
With production kicking off now, that could potentially get the second season on target to premiere at the end of 2027. I have not seen a confirmation at this point, but the assumption is that the second season will cover the second book in the series, The Chamber of Secrets.
American Horror Story Season 13 (FX)
The thirteenth year of this season-long horror anthology has been showing up in the Production Weekly listings since November 2025, and filming has begun which puts it on target for a Fall 2026 premiere. The cast for the upcoming season has been announced, which includes quite a number of returning favorites: Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Ariana Grande, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and John Waters. In addition, Season 13 has been confirmed as an extension of the “Coven” storyline from the show’s fan-favorite third year. I previously predicted that this could be the final season for AHS, but there has been no confirmation on that yet.
Other genre entries from the listings for April 2nd and April 9th: Black Mirror (Netflix) Season 8, For All Mankind (Apple TV) Season 6, House of the Dragon (HBO) Season 4, Mass Effect (Amazon), The Ministry of Time (BBC), Paradise (Hulu) Season 3, Severance (Apple TV) Season 3, Stargate (Amazon), Untitled Monsterverse Project (Apple TV), The X-Files (Hulu)

Roboxop? Hollywood is almost completely devoid of actual creativity. They will go for a nostalgia brand and wind up alienating all the people that actually would be feeling that nostalgia.
