Cancellation Watch: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Enters the Nielsen Streaming Rankings, Gen V Gets a Disappointing Update, and More

Cancellation Watch: Weekly status updates and cancellation/renewal predictions for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the broadcast networks, cable channels, and streaming services.

Status Updates

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV, Status: Renewal Possible): This extension of the Monsterverse franchise peaked into the lower rungs of the Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the second week of its second season, grabbing onto the Number 10 slot with an estimated 467 million minutes of viewing. That is decent for an Apple TV entry, and it did make it to Number 1 on that streamer’s Top 10 worldwide.  At this point, the show appears to be on track for a third-season renewal.

Gen V (Prime Video, Status: On the Bubble): This spin-off from The Boys wrapped up its second season in October 2025, and there has been no word on a third year of the show yet. When asked in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, series co-star Jaz Sinclair said that she has heard nothing about a third season of the show yet: “I don’t know anything as far as what the future holds”. Her character plays a prominent role in the fifth and final season of The Boys, so perhaps the creative team will see that as wrapping up her story arc in case Gen V does not continue. I already moved this show to Bubble status, and fans should certainly start making some noise if they want it to continue.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (Disney+, Status: Ended): This MCU entry hit Disney+ back in 2022, and it was presumed to be a limited series seeing as it did not continue to a second season even though it definitely could have carried on. Head of Marvel TV Brad Winderbaum recently mentioned it on The Escape Pod and suggested that he would like to see more from the show:

I love She-Hulk. I’d love to make more She-Hulk. I mean, I’ll tell you this about She-Hulk. That’s one of our best-performing shows. It just hit the general audience.

While the show did get some mixed responses, Tatiana Maslany was generally well-liked in the central role. Word is that she will make an appearance in one or more of the upcoming MCU movies, but perhaps another season of She-Hulk is possible, and fans should start making some noise on the social networks to support the idea.

Paradise (Hulu, Status: Renewed): This mystery-box series held at Number 5 in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the second week of its second season, pulling in an estimated 694 million minutes of viewing. It has already been renewed for a third season, and that will be its last.
