Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note. The dates and times shown below can change with little to no notice.
Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:
Stranger Things, Netflix: With Hawkins’ children ensnared by Vecna, the party faces unimaginable peril as they fight to bring them home. Vol. 2 of Season 5 (Episodes 5 to 7) will be available on Thursday.
Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale, AMC+/Sundance NOW: Season two picks up a year after the traumatic events of season one. Sarah Fenn and her daughter Harper are in hiding in Scotland, concealing Harper’s extraordinary powers, but a dark cloud is descending as recent anti-witch legislation has increased hate crimes. As Sarah worries worse is to come, she’s presented with a dramatic ultimatum – return to Sanctuary as the secret eyes and ears of the witch ruling body, The Moot, or have her magic bound. Determined to retain her powers and protect Harper at all costs, Sarah returns home just as a mysterious murder takes place, also drawing DCI Maggie Knight back to Sanctuary. This first Season 2 episode will be available on Thursday.
The Copenhagen Test, Peacock: This espionage thriller series follows first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale who realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears. Caught between his shadowy agency and the unknown hackers, he must maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who’s responsible and prove where his allegiance lies. All episodes will be available on Saturday.
Schedule Notes:
Wrapping up this week is Apple TV’s Pluribus which has its season finale on Friday. It has not received a second season renewal yet, but I am expecting that to come at any time. Also wrapping up is Amazon’s The Mighty Nein which releases its season finale on Monday, a day earlier than its usual weekly release. That one has already been renewed for a second season. With The Copenhagen Test premiering on Peacock on Saturday, this will be the first time this season that new episodes of sci fi/fantasy shows will release each day of the week. Below are the full listings for the current week, and you can see all of the premieres for December and beyond at this link. The two-week view of the schedule is available here.

The pilot for Seven Sisters which stars Elizabeth Olsen (Wandavision) has been picked up by FX. Deadline gives the following description:
Seven Sisters follows a large, tight-knit family that begins to unravel when one sister, Adrienne (Olsen), starts communicating with a voice no one else can hear, forcing them to confront long-buried secrets.
Cristin Milioti and J. Smith-Cameron will also star in the production, and the cable network will be considering this for their 2026 schedule.
Gil Gerrard passed away this past week at the age of 82. He was best known to genre fans in the role as the titular hero in the 1979 TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
In production news, it appears that the long-awaited Manifest spin-off/sequel is in the works as there is an entry for Manifest: Arrivals in the most recent Production Weekly listings. In addition, work is beginning on the Monsterverse prequel series that will star Wyatt Russel as Colonel Lee Shaw. You can read more about those in the latest Sci Fi TV Production Report post.
In casting news, Amazon’s upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series adds one more to its cast as Jason Isaacs (Star Trek: Discovery) will be joining Sophie Turner, though his role is unspecified at this time.
