Sci Fi TV Production Report: Tracking the sci fi and fantasy shows currently moving into development/production based on the listings from Production Weekly. Note that appearing on that list does not guarantee that the series will move forward.
Following are the genre entries of note included in the listings for December 11th and 18th:
Manifest: Arrivals (Netflix)
This may be breaking news as I have not seen any other coverage at this point, but it appears that a spin-off/sequel to Manifest is in the works at Netflix. The December 18th listings for Production Weekly have an entry for Manifest: Arrivals that is showing up for the first time. I can’t say for certain at this point that it is related to the series the streamer saved from cancellation and turned into a huge hit, but that title surely suggests a link, and there have been talks about a sequel series all the way back to the time that the fourth season wrapped up. Series star Josh Dallas claims that a deleted scene was filmed that teased a continuation, but that was not included in the streaming release (more on that at this link). And then in August of 2024, series creator Jeff Rake posted the following on social media:
MANIFEST UPDATE
Hey Manifesters! I know. It’s been a long time.
No green light yet, but fyi my partners and I are working nonstop to bring you the spinoff you deserve. Keep the faith.
Wishing you a happy and healthy 828!!!
And as recently as June 2025, Rake posted “Not dead yet” on his Twitter account. Now, with this new entry showing up in Production Weekly, the spin-off may be moving into production. I have not been able to find any details about it, and none of the major entertainment media sources have confirmed this, nor has Netflix made a statement yet. But I expect that with this now showing up in a major entertainment industry publication, more news should follow soon, so stay tuned for updates.
Untitled Monsterverse Project (Apple TV)
As previously reported, a new series set in the Legendary Monsterverse franchise is in the works, and it is now showing up in the Production Weekly listings. This will act as a prequel to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (which already acts as a prequel of sorts to the current Monsterverse movies), and it will focus on the early years of Colonel Lee Shaw with Wyatt Russell returning to the role. The series has not received an official title yet, but Deadline gives the following synopsis:
The new spinoff series will follow the story of Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who in 1984 went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters veteran Joby Harold will act as showrunner on the prequel as part of his new overall deal with Legendary. With production kicking off on the new show, that likely has it on track for an early 2027 premiere, and the second season of the parent show is set to premiere February 27th on Apple TV.
House of the Dragon (HBO) Season 4
Production has begun on the fourth season of this Game of Thrones prequel according to the December 11th Production Weekly listings. Season 3 has completed filming and is expected to premiere during the first half of 2026. And with Season 4 moving forward, that should reduce the hiatus between seasons. It was previously announced that the show would wrap up at that point, but HBO boss Casey Bloys has suggested that it could continue beyond that.
Other genre entries from the listings for December 11th and 18th: Assassin’s Creed (Netflix), Fallout (Amazon) Season 3, The Institute (MGM+) Season 2, Paradise (Hulu) Season 2, Severance (Apple TV) Season 3, Wednesday (Netflix) Season 3
