Sci Fi TV News of Note:

An Assassin's Creed TV series is in the works at Netflix

Lola Petticrew (Trespasses) has been cast in the co-lead role next to Toby Wallace (The Society) in the upcoming live-action Assassin’s Creed TV series in the works at Netflix. Deadline gives the following description for the show:

Assassin’s Creed is a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters — said to be different from the games — across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.

Pre-production has begun on this one, and filming is set to start in 2026, likely having it on track for a 2027 premiere.

Longtime genre veteran Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join the upcoming Tomb Raider series in the works at Amazon’s Prime Video. She will be joining Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) who will play Lara Croft, though there is no word at this point on what role Weaver will play.

The British actor and rapper Ghetts will not be returning to Netflix’s superhero drama Supacell in its second season after he was involved in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of another man. The fate of the character that Ghetts played, Krazy, was uncertain at the end of the first season, and now he will be written out of the show.

Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 has wrapped filming, but there is still a lot of work to be done to get that one ready for its premiere. It will arrive late 2026 at best, if not early 2027.
