Sci Fi TV News of Note:

A V for Vendetta TV series is coming to HBO

A television adaptation of Alan Moore’s V for Vendetta is in the works at HBO. Variety gives the following description of the property:

The story is set in Britain in a dystopian, not-too-distant future in which the country is controlled by the fascistic Norsefire party. An anarchist named V, known for his distinctive Guy Fawkes mask, seeks to topple the government with the help of Evey Hammond, a young woman V rescued from the country’s secret police.

James Gunn and Peter Safran will be onboard as executive producers, but the original series did not take place in the DC Universe, so it is unclear if this will be attached to their DC reboot. The 2019 prequel Batman prequel series Pennyworth, which focused on a young Alfred Pennyworth, was designed to lead into V for Vendetta, and it is unclear if this will be attached to that or if the show will follow its own continuity.

Another DC-based series is in the works with DC Crime which will include Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen and will act as a mockumentary looking at criminals like Gorilla Grodd. That has already moved into production and you can read more about it in our latest Sci Fi TV Production Report post.

A TV series adaptation of the upcoming Eric Phillips book Wild North is on the way. Deadline gives the following description for the property:

Wild North is billed as a nautical sci-fi action novel set in the Arctic in the future. It images a world where the arctic ice has melted and a geo-political race for untapped resources devolves into warfare over oil. The story follows a U.S. ship forced to survive with an eco-terrorist group sabotaging oil claims and international law crumbling.

The book is being published by Gungnir with a 2027 release date, and work on the television series will follow that. No network or streaming service has been attached at this point.

In scheduling news, Season 2 of Apple TV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has received a premiere date of February 27th.  You can see all the upcoming sci fi and fantasy TV premieres at this link.

Sci Fi TV Trailers:

Fallout, Prime Video: Based on one of the greatest video games of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them above. Season 2 premieres December 17th.
