Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.

Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:

Muderbot (Apple TV+): In a high-tech future, a rogue security robot (Alexander Skarsgård) secretly gains free will. To stay hidden, it reluctantly joins a new mission protecting scientists on a dangerous planet…even though it just wants to binge soap operas. The first two episodes will be available for streaming on Friday.

Schedule Notes:

Wrapping up this week is Andor which will release its final three episodes on Disney+ on Tuesday to cap off its planned two-season run. Also wrapping up is Fox’s Krapopolis which has its Season 2 final on Sunday. That show has been renewed through its fifth season. Sci Fi TV News of Note:

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch will be leaving Netflix on May 12th. That is the interactive movie linked to the series that offers any of a number of story paths. It is not leaving due to a rights issue, instead Netflix is phasing out all of its interactive shows because of the new user interface they are putting in place. And since Bandersnatch is not currently on home video, the movie will not be available anywhere once it is removed. There is no word at this point on whether a future DVD or Blu-ray release is planned.

Fallout Season 2 has wrapped up filming, but it will still be a while before it is available for streaming. Special effects and other post-production work still need to be completed, and it could be 2026 before the show returns.

In scheduling news, Apple TV+ has set July 11th as the premiere date for Foundation Season 3. You can see the teaser for that below.

Sci Fi TV Trailers:

Foundation (Apple TV+): Set 152 years after the events of Season 2, the Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled. As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as “The Mule” whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force, as well as mind control. It’s anyone’s guess who will win, who will lose, who will live, and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons, and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess. Premieres July 11th.
