Sci Fi TV News of Note:

Comedy Central has given a ten-episode order to for the adult animated series Golden Axe which is based on the Sega video game of the same name. Deadline gives the following description for the project:

Golden Axe follows veteran warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they once again battle to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder who just won’t seem to stay dead. Fortunately, this time they have the inexperienced and underprepared Hampton Squib on their side.

The voice cast currently includes Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre, and Carl Tart, and Mike McMahon and Joe Chandler are onboard as executive producers. The show will likely be targeting a late-2024 or early-2025 premiere.

This past week has brought quite a number of renewals for sci fi TV shows.  Fallout will be returning for a second season on Amazon’s Prime Video.  Netflix’s The Witcher has been given an advance renewal for a fifth season and that will be its last.  For All Mankind will continue to a fifth season on Apple TV+. And Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has received an advance renewal for a fourth season on Paramount+.  In cancellations, Star Trek: Lower Decks will be ending with its fifth season, but series co-star Jack Quaid has suggested it could be shopped around.

In scheduling news, the second season of Netflix’s fantasy Anime series Blood of Zeus has been shifted to a May 9th start, and you can see the trailer for that below.  In addition, Sweet Tooth will return for its third and final season for that streamer on June 6th.  And Apple TV+ has given a July 10th premiere date for its upcoming series Sunny.
