Sci Fi TV Highlights: Premiere for Fallout, HBO Casts Dunk and Egg, and More

Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.

Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:

Fallout (Prime Video): Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them. All episodes will be available for viewing on Wednesday.

Chucky (Syfy): Chucky may be dying, but he’s not dead yet! Chucky and Tiffany return for the second half of the third season. Premieres Wednesday at 10 PM EST on Syfy and USA.

Schedule Notes:

[Update] Prime Video’s Fallout was originally scheduled to drop on Friday, but at the last minute that got bumped up to Wednesday at 3 PM EST. All episodes will be available for viewing. Sci Fi TV News of Note:

HBO has cast the roles of Dunk and Egg for the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. Peter Claffey (Vikings: Valhalla) has been cast as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) will play his squire Egg. That series is currently looking at a 2025 premiere.

In additional casting news, Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy) will be joining the upcoming season of The Walking Dead: Dead City in the role of Bruegel, the leader of one of the fiercest gangs in New York City. That one is set to return in Summer 2024.

The Stargate revival will be in the vein of SG-1 but with a new cast according to an anonymous source at MGM. There are plans to have some legacy characters on the show, but nobody specific has been announced. You can watch the full coverage of that at SciTrek.

In cancellation news, NBC has brought the leaping to an end as Quantum Leap will not continue into a third season.  That show was a moderate performer in the ratings but it did develop a notable following and they may lobby for a conclusion to the series.

  1. I haven’t seen it but found it curious that Amazon posted the entire season up front…when was the last time that happened?
