Sci Fi/Fantasy TV Shows Premiering This Week
This will be a busy week with six premieres on the linear networks. Following are the highlights:
Legends of Tomorrow (Season 7 Premieres on The CW October 13th): When the Legends let time crumble in order to release and defeat Mallus, the barrier between worlds softened. History is now infected with “Fugitives” – magical creatures from myths, fairytales, and legends. Having been expelled throughout time by people like Constantine, these Fugitives are now returning to our world in droves and making a real mess of things. Premieres Wednesday at 8 PM EST.
Batwoman (Season 3 Premieres on The CW October 13th): As Batwoman (Javicia Leslie) continues to keep the streets of Gotham safe, Batwing (Camrus Johnson) joins in on the action, but Luke quickly realizes he hasn’t quite mastered his suit. Meanwhile, as Alice (Rachel Skarsten) sits hopelessly imprisoned in Arkham, Sophie (Meagan Tandy) fully enjoys her freedom. When Ryan pays Alice a visit to ask about the bombshell she dropped – that Ryan’s birth mother is still alive – Ryan must decide if she should go down the rabbit hole of her past. As Mary (Nicole Kang) prepares to finally graduate from medical school, she feels the absence of her family more than ever. But when an Alice admirer stumbles upon one of the missing Bat Trophies, Gotham and the Bat Team get mixed up in the madness, culminating in a shockingly gruesome graduation…and an equally shocking new partnership. Premieres Wednesday at 9 PM EST
Chucky (Premieres on Syfy October 12th): In the new CHUCKY television series, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos after a vintage ‘Good Guy’ doll turns up at a suburban yard sale. Soon, everyone must grapple with a series of horrifying murders that begin to expose the town’s deep hypocrisies and hidden secrets. Meanwhile, friends and foes from Chucky’s past creep back into his world and threaten to expose the truth behind his mysterious origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster. Premieres on Tueaday at 10 PM EST.
Day of the Dead (Premieres on Syfy October 15th): DAY OF THE DEAD follows a group of strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. This ode to George A. Romero’s famous flesh-eaters reminds us that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of hungry zombies trying to rip them apart. Premieres Friday at 10 PM EST.
Schedule Notes:
Also premiering this week is the fourth season of Legacies which has its bow at 9 PM EST on Thursday on The CW. And on Sunday, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead will return for its seventh season at 9 PM EST. Three shows will be wrapping up this week, starting with The CW’s Roswell New Mexico which has its two-hour season finale on Monday. That one has been renewed for a fourth season. On Thursday, the season finale for Star Trek: Lower Decks will drop on on Paramount+ (it has been renewed for a third season). And on Friday, See wraps up its second year on Apple TV+ with a third season due in 2022. And for those interested, Syfy has the original slasher film Slumber Party Massacre premiering on Saturday.
