Streaming Finds: Here’s All the Sci Fi and Fantasy Shows Coming to Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and More in July

Following is a rundown of the sci fi and fantasy shows (new and old) that will be arriving on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon in July, plus originals that will debut on the other streaming services during the month.  Now expanded to include movies.

July is a busy month for Netflix with three new originals and one returning series, plus NBC’s Peacock service debuts widely on July 15th with the new Brave New World as one of its premium offerings. Apart from that and another episode of Hulu’s Into the Dark, there is not much else that the big three streaming services will be adding this much

Originals:

Warrior Nun (Premieres July 2nd)

About: After waking up in a morgue, an orphaned teen discovers she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo-Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns.

JU-ON: Origins (Premieres July 3rd)


About: The legendary Japanese horror franchise that has become a smash hit worldwide gets its first drama adaptation. In the Netflix Original Series Ju-On: Origins, the story based on a truth more terrifying than fiction returns. Can the people haunted by this house escape from its curse? And what kind of grim incident occurred in this cursed house in the past?

Cursed (Premieres July 17th)


About: In this fresh take on the Arthurian legend, teenager Nimue joins forces with mercenary Arthur on a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword.

The Umbrella Academy (Season 2 Premieres July 31st)

About: Reunited by their father’s death, estranged siblings with extraordinary powers uncover shocking family secrets — and a looming threat to humanity.

Hulu

Into the Dark (S2 Ep 10 “Current Occupant” Premieres July 17th)

About: Trapped in a mysterious psychiatric ward, the episode follows a man with no memory comes to believe that he’s the President of the United States and the subject of a diabolical political conspiracy. As the asylum’s soul-crushing forces bear down on him, he fights to preserve his sanity and escape so that he can return to power.


Amazon Prime Video

Brave New World (Peacock Premieres July 25th)

About: Based on Aldous Huxley’s groundbreaking novel, Brave New World imagines a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. As citizens of New London, Bernard Marx and Lenina Crowne embark on a vacation to the Savage Lands, where they become embroiled in a harrowing and violent rebellion. Bernard and Lenina are rescued by John the Savage, who escapes with them back to New London. John’s arrival in the New World soon threatens to disrupt its utopian harmony, leaving Bernard and Lenina to grapple with the repercussions.
