Streaming Finds: Moonlight is Available for Free on CWSeed

Streaming Finds: Tracking down sci fi and fantasy shows of interest available on the streaming services.

What Is It? Immortal vampire Mick Angel works as a private investigator while also protecting the human women whom he saved when she was a child and whom he has grown to love.

Starring: Alex O’Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, Shannyn Sossamon

The Skinny: This series debuted on CBS in Fall of 2007 and gave a somewhat different spin on the vampires, appealing to a more adult audience than those reading the Twilight books at the time. Vampires have integrated themselves in human society and learned ways to conceal their sanguine needs while still sating their thirst for blood. Mick Angel is a reluctant vampire who uses his special abilities to assist him as a private investigator and also to protect a woman that he has been watching over since he saved her life as a child. The series was one of many impacted by the 2007 writer’s strike and CBS cancelled it at the end of its first season, even though its ratings were not that bad. But the sixteen episodes that the show did complete are definitely worth seeking out, especially for those who enjoy a well-written vampire tale with no teen angst (or glitter).

The series is available for streaming on CWSeed which is an offshoot from The CW. The website and the app have several shows available that were produced by Warner Bros. or CBS Studios including this one, Pushing Daisies, Forever, Ghost Whisperer, and more (you can see the complete list of genre entries available on the site at this link). They do run commercials during the episodes, but about the same as you get from other network websites or the basic Hulu subscription. If you have never seen Moonlight, or if it has been a while since you watched it, you can binge it over a weekend and will definitely find it worth your time.
