Cancellation Watch Breaking News: Ash vs. Evil Dead Has Been Cancelled by Starz after Three Seasons

Starz announced this afternoon that their horror series Ash vs. Evil Dead will not continue beyond its Season 3 finale that airs Sunday April 29th.  The show’s ratings have been notably down in its third year, but then it has gone up against stiff competition, particularly The Walking Dead, for much of the year.  But its fate was already in doubt because the third season had a delayed start and debuted in February of this year as opposed to the expected Fall bow.  Series star Bruce Campbell had previously made a comment that they might do a fourth film if the show was cancelled after its third season, but later retracted that saying that Ash was probably done if the show was cancelled.  Campbell did send out a final tweet thanking Starz for the opportunity to revisit the character:

Fans do have an online petition to keep the show going and will likely now start to lobby other networks to pick it up now that Starz has cancelled it.

Ash vs. Evil Dead revisits the character Ash Williams who was first introduced in the Evil Dead movies and finds him once again doing battle with the forces of evil. Original director Sam Raimi executive produced the series and original star Bruce Campbell returned to the lead role. The show also stars Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, and Lucy Lawless.
