Why Was It Cancelled? This show along with the other Defenders entries (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher) fell victim to corporate competitiveness as well as Netflix’s lack of long-term commitment to its shows. The streaming service obviously did not like the idea that Disney would be launching a competing platform, and that may have factored into the cancellation. But Netflix has also shown a tendency to cap off its shows around the three-season mark because at that point they are no longer bringing in many new subscribers, even if they are among the most-watched shows on the service. There are rumors that the rights to these characters will revert back to Disney/Marvel and that they could return to the small screen and/or big screen at some point as part of the MCU.
