Cancellation Watch: A Third Season of Timeless Looks Unlikely, But a Two-Hour Movie Could Still Happen

NBC announced a week and a half ago that its time travel series Timeless would not be continuing for a third season on the network, but the show’s studio has been looking for a network that would pick it up, similar to what we saw just recently with Amazon saving The Expanse and Netflix picking up Lucifer. But the window was short to shop the series around because actor’s contracts expired at the end of June and no deal was made during that time. Series co-creator Shawn Ryan put out the following tweets yesterday addressing the status of the show:

Fans have continued to support the show on the social nets, lobbying for another network or one of the streaming services to pick it up. At this point, though, it appears that they should focus their efforts on a final two-hour movie to resolve the Season 2 cliffhanger because that appears to be best-cast scenario short of an unexpected savior stepping up in the next week or so.
