The Charts: The Walking Dead AND The Talking Dead Win the Week, Resurrection is Slipping

Chart activity for sci fi / fantasy TV shows for the week of March 24 through March 30th:

the-walking-dead-season4The Walking Dead season finales was a ratings blockbuster and also put the show at the top of the charts for the week.  That episode landed at the Number 1 spot on the Cable Top 25 based on viewership while its 8.0 rating made it the most watched show by the 18-49 demographic on all of the television channels.  And the episode of the discussion series The Talking Dead that followed the finale pulled an amazing 3.7 rating which tied it with the top rated show on the broadcast nets (The Voice) for the week.  Makes me wonder if AMC might start bumping up the episode order of the show from its usual 16 to get more weeks of the show’s typically phenomenal ratings (don’t do that AMC, no padding needed on this one).  Interestingly enough, TWD took second place in the Nielsen Twitter Ratings for a third week in a row, this time losing out to Nickelodeon’s 27th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards.  I don’t think that AMC or the show’s producers are shedding too many tears over that one, though.

On the broadcast network charts, ABC’s Resurrection has started to slide as its ratings declines are impacting its stands.  That show slipped to the Number 14 slot (down from 7) based on ratings and Number 20 based on total viewers.  It’s still looking okay for now, though, as long is it can level off its numbers.  Also in the ratings chart for the week was Once Upon A Time at Number 21 and Person of Interest, edging back in at Number 23.  That latter show landed at Number 7 on the chart based on total viewers as it continues to be one of the most watched shows on CBS.

The Walking Dead will now be absent from the charts until it returns with its fifth season in October.  But next week HBO’s Game of Thrones should likely make an appearance as it has its fourth season debut.
