Save Millennium

Chris Carter’s Millennium was cancelled by FOX after three seasons, but both Carter and series star Lance Henriksen support a revival, and fans could make that happen.

Millennium premiered on FOX in 1996 and it follows on ex-FBI agent Frank Black (with an Emmy-worthy portrayal by genre-favorite Lance Henriksen) who was previously a criminal profiler and who has a unique ability to “see” the crime scene from the eyes of the killer. He works as a consultant for the Millennium group solving crimes while also looking for evidence to support the group’s belief that evil forces are coming together as the end of the second millennium approaches and these present a threat to humanity. It ran for three seasons totaling 67 episodes, but it was sadly cancelled before resolving its storylines. It stars Lance Henriksen, Megan Gallagher, Terry O’Quinn, Brittany Tiplady, Kristen Cloke, Klea Scott. You can read more about the show at this link.

Both Lance Henriksen and Chris Carter have wanted to revisit the show for years and give it a proper wrap up with either a movie or a final season. The 25th anniversary of the show’s premiere will be on October 25, 2021, and Millennium is finally starting to get some of the recognition it deserves. With Henriksen and Carter behind the idea of a revival, and with enough fan support (and with reboot/revival fever on the upswing again in the entertainment industry), now might be the right time to get a proper conclusion for this show (you can read more about that at this link).

Millennium is currently not available for streaming and the DVDs have gone out of print and are fetching pretty high prices from third-party sellers. Getting the series streaming again could be the first step towards a revival of the show. The rights may have shifted to Disney with the purchase of 20th Century FOX Entertainment, and Hulu (also owned by Disney) would be a good landing spot (The X-Files is currently streaming there). The horror-themed streaming service Shudder, which is owned by AMC, would be a good option as well. And of course, Netflix is always a possibility as well.  And feel free to suggest other possible streamers in the comments below.

Below are the links where you can submit a request for a show to be added. A good start towards the revival would be to submit requests to all of them and ask others to do the same. I have included some sample verbiage to send which also mentions the revival (Netflix only allows you to submit the show name). Feel free to use that or come up with your own words. If there are enough requests (as in tens of thousands), certainly they will consider adding the show. And from there, perhaps the revival will follow.

Hulu

Shudder

Netflix

Sample Verbiage: Please add the 1996 TV series Millennium to the television shows you have available. It was a ground-breaking series created by Chris Carter (The X-Files) and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. It is not streaming anywhere else, and the DVDs are out of print, so it should drive subscribers to your service. Series star Lance Henriksen and creator Chris Carter are also lobbying for a revival movie or mini-series, and that would be a great addition to your service as well. Millennium is a quality series that is highly acclaimed and it would certainly bolster your subscriptions it you were to add it to your library of past television shows.
