Sci Fi TV Premieres:
Lanterns (HBO): The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery. Premieres Sunday 9 PM EST
The X-Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn (Hulu/Disney+): When a group of women are mysteriously abducted, it becomes a case right out of The X-Files. Years after walking away from the FBI, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dr. Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are pulled back from the shadows when a federal agent vanishes without a trace. In a case you’d never see on TV, their only lead is a disgraced, defrocked priest claiming to have horrific psychic visions of the crime. Forced to confront the ghosts of their past, the partners must navigate a chilling winter landscape and an even darker human monstrosity. The truth of these crimes is out there somewhere… and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it. The X-Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn reimagines creator and director Chris Carter’s original vision in this all-new director’s cut. Premieres on Friday

Wrapping up this week is X-Men ’97 which has its Season 2 finale on Wednesday. That one has been renewed through its fourth season with the third set to return next year (more on that below). Below are the full listings for the current week, and you can see the two-week view of the schedule here.

Sci Fi TV News of Note:
After Ryan Hurst (The Walking Dead) suffered a torn bicep on the set of Amazon’s adaptation of the God of War video game, the streamer has been looking to replace the actor in the lead role of Kratos. They are now talking to Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and it is looking like he could be stepping up to front the series. Following is the logline for the show:
Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.
It has been picked up for two seasons, and if they can work out a deal with Bautista, filming could resume in Fall.
The fifth and final season of The Witcher was set to premiere in later this year, but that has now been pushed to 2027. It actually finished filming back in 2025, but the delay may be due to sfx work that still needs to be completed. A 2027 premiere date has not been given, but expect the show to arrive by mid year.
As mentioned above, Season 2 of X-Men ’97 wraps up this week, and Marvel Studios Head of TV and Streaming Brad Winderbaum has said that the third season will be arriving next year and that the show will be on a yearly schedule. Many streaming series are taking a year and a half to two years (or longer) between seasons, but this one seems to be bucking that trend and we can likely expect the next season to arrive around Summer 2027.
Disney+ has given a pilot order to Spaceship Earth, a series based on the EPCOT ride of the same name. In addition, the DC Crime series featuring Jimmy Olsen has changed its name to American Villain: Grodd, and work has begun on a fifth season of the supernatural mockumentary Wellington Paranormal. In additional production news, filming has wrapped on Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms which has it on track for an early 2027 premiere.
The fifth episode of Star Wars: Visions Season 1, “The Ninth Jedi”, has been made available to stream for free (with ads) on YouTube as a teaser to the follow up series Star Wars Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi which is now streaming on Disney+. You can watch that at this link.
