Devil May Cry Renewed by Netflix for a Third and Final Season

As previously indicated, Devil May Cry will be returning to Netflix for a third season, and it will wrap up at that point. That anime entry returned for its second season last month and landed at the Number 6 slot in that streamer’s Top 10 with 19.4 million hours viewed across 4.1 million households for its premiere week. There were reports that the show had already been renewed for a third year, and Netflix is now making that official. The show has been generally well-received by critics, currently holding a 98% Tomatometer Score on Rotten Tomatoes, though some long-time fans of the games have given it mixed reviews (its Popcornmeter Score is 69%) . Showrunner Adi Shankar had the following to say about the direction of the series heading into Season 3:

For those of you who have been paying attention to the episode names, I have been showing you the structure the entire time. This was always Dante’s Divine Comedy with guns and a red coat. Season 1 was Inferno. Season 2 was Purgatorio. Season 3 will be Paradiso. These three seasons make up The Force Edge Saga. Since inception, The Force Edge Saga was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series.

Production will likely start soon on the third season which should put it on target to arrive mid-2027.

This announcement brings the Cancellation/Renewal Score for the 2025-26 season to 33 renewed sci fi and fantasy entries (59% of shows tracked) vs. 13 cancelled and ending (23%).
