Sci Fi TV News of Note:

Another bizarre take on the Archie comics is in the works, coming from the same people that previously gave us the surrealistic Riverdale, which ran for seven seasons on The CW. Afterlife with Archie is in development at Disney+, based on the comic book series of the same name. According to Deadline, the series “re-imagines the beloved town of Riverdale as an apocalyptic, nightmare-fueled hellscape overrun with flesh-eating zombies”. The comic book was created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla, and the former previously developed the Riverdale series. Aguirre-Sacasa will be re-teaming with uber-producer Greg Berlanti on this, and it will be a production of WBTV, though targeted for the Disney streaming service. There is no indication at this point on whether the new series will try to tie in to Riverdale or The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina which also came from Aguirre-Sacasa.  Likely not, though, because they would have to reassemble casts of the earlier shows.

In production news, Very Young Frankenstein has received a pilot order from FX. Not much is known about the series at this point other than it is “inspired” by the 1974 Mel Brooks film Young Frankenstein. Cast in the series so far are Cary Elwes, Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells, Spencer House, Nikki Crawford, and Kumail Nanjiani. The show will likely be looking at a mid-to-late 2026 premiere.
