Sci Fi TV News of Note:
A Mad Max TV series is allegedly in the works at HBO Max and will be titled Mad Max: The Wasteland. Originally intended as a film, the project has shifted to a TV show, and the Fortress of Solitude site gives the following description:
Miller himself once described it as a bleak tale covering a single year of Max’s life leading directly into Fury Road. This is the year when Max rebuilds his beloved Interceptor, hustling across the wasteland and trading favors for car parts. Along the way, he crosses paths with familiar names like Chumbucket, Scrotus, and even Hope and Glory. Those haunting flashbacks Max suffered in Fury Road all originate from Mad Max: The Wasteland’s story.
Based on the description, it will draw from the George Miller Mad Max novella of the same name and the 2015 video game. There has not been an official greenlight for the show yet, but we could be hearing an announcement soon.
Foundation original showrunner and executive producer David Goyer has a spin-off idea for the Apple TV+ series. That show has referenced the Robot Wars that Isaac Asimov covered in his works, and Goyer would like to do a series focused on that. Following are the comments he made to Slashfilm:
I would love to tell that story, but there’s really only two ways to tell it. One would be to tell it as a sort of B-story interwoven into a season, where we would do these flashbacks, which would be interesting, but would take up a lot of time and a lot of bandwidth. Another interesting way to do it would be to do it as like a six-episode miniseries that happens in between two of the larger seasons of Foundation.
Foundation has been renewed for a fourth season, and it has received good marks from critics and viewers. Whether the streamer would be interested in a spin-off remains to be seen.
Daredevil: Born Again received an official Season 3 renewal this past week. That had already shown up in the Production Weekly listings, and Disney+ has confirmed that the third season will be happening.
In scheduling news, HBO’s Game of Thrones spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has received a January 2026 release window. That series is based on the Dunk and Egg stories by George R.R. Martin.
