Daredevil: Born Again Has Been Officially Renewed for a Third Season

Once again, you heard it hear first. Disney+ has officially renewed Daredevil: Born Again for a third season, and I already covered the fact that it was in the Production Weekly listings a couple of weeks ago, acting as an unofficial renewal. The announcement does not come as a huge surprise, and if you go back to the original production plan, the upcoming second season was actually the second half of the first season. That was re-labeled, and now we have the official greenlight for a third year of the show. The first season did not make it into the Nielsen Streaming Rankings which was somewhat of a surprise considering the large amount of support for the Netflix series which was cancelled after three seasons. The current show is a continuation of that one, and it will be bringing in Jessica Jones and possibly other characters from the previous continuity on Netflix (The Punisher already appeared in the first season).

Series star Charlie Cox had previously made comments suggesting that the show would wrap up with its second season, but Vincent D’Onofrio countered that and said that there is a “good chance there will be a third”.  There is a chance that Cox was referring to what will now be the third season, and the show could wrap up around that time.  Disney+ has been going for shorter runs of its television shows the last few years, often greenlighting no more than one season.  If Daredevil: Born Again does end with its third season, I would still expect the characters to make appearances in the movies and possibly in other television productions.  Season 2–which has completed filming–is currently scheduled for a March 2026 premiere, and work has begun on Season 3, which means that it could bow at some point in 2027.

This show was already counted as renewed for the 2024-25 season, so the current announcement will count for the nascent 2025-26 season.  Currently, the Cancellation/Renewal Score for that season stands at 12 renewed sci fi and fantasy entries (63% of shows tracked) vs. 5 cancelled and ending (26%).  You can see the breakdown of the numbers and the full list of shows for the current and prior seasons on our Cancellation Watch Page.

Daredevil: Born Again follows blind attorney Matt Murdock who had his senses enhanced from a childhood accident and has turned into the crime-fighter named Daredevil. He battles in the streets of New York City to keep the people living there safe from villains like Kingpin who seek to terrorize and control the city. It stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson.
