Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:
Peacemaker (HBO Max): Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands. The first episode of Season 2 will be available for streaming on Thursday and the show will release one ep per week.
Invasion (Apple TV+): Invasion follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. In season three, those perspectives collide for the first time, as the series’ main characters are brought together to work as a team on a critical mission to infiltrate the alien mothership. The ultimate apex aliens have finally emerged, rapidly spreading their deadly tendrils across our planet. It will take all our heroes working together, using all their experience and expertise, to save our species. New relationships are formed, old relationship are challenged and even shattered, as our international cast of characters must become a team before it’s too late. The first episode of Season e will be available for streaming on Friday and the show will release one ep per week.
Schedule Notes:
Wrapping up this week is MGM+’s The Institute which will have its season finale on Sunday. There has been no word on a second season of that show yet. Sci Fi TV News of Note:
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer (aka the Duffer Brothers) will be leaving Netflix for a new development deal at Paramount. There is no word on what they have planned at their new home yet beyond the fact that they want to focus their attention on tentpole movies. Stranger Things will be wrapping up later this year, and they also worked on the animated prequel Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 for Netflix as well as the upcoming sci fi series The Burroughs and the horror entry Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. The Duffers will likely start their development activity at Paramount in 2026.
Production has begun on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+) Season 5, The Creep Tapes (Shudder) Season 3, and One Piece (Netflix) Season 3. You can read more about those in the latest Sci Fi TV Production Report post.
In renewal news, Netflix’s One Piece has been given the greenlight for a third season ahead of its second 2026 season premiere.
The second season of the classic British series Blake’s 7 will be getting the remastered Blu-ray treatment following the positive response to the first season release. That will be available on November 10th and you can read more about it at this link.
