Sci Fi TV News of Note:
A reboot of the 1970s Saturday Morning series Land of the Lost is in the works for Netflix with Legendary Television partnering up with Sid & Marty Kroft Productions on the project. The original series followed a group that consisted of a father, son, and daughter (Rick, Will, and Holly Marshal) who pass through a portal into a strange world populated by dinosaurs and other races. As they try to find their way home they discover that this land of the lost has many mysteries as well as many dangers. David Gerrold (Star Trek: TOS, Babylon 5) was the story editor for the show and helped to flesh-out the world, while also bringing on notable science fictions writers to produce scripts, helping the show stand out among other children’s fare airing at that time. There are no specifics on the plans for the new series at this time, but Marty’s daughter Deanna Krofft Pope will be onboard as executive producer.
Jason Momoa’s post-apocalyptic series See, which first premiered on Apple TV+ in 2019 and ran for three seasons, is experiencing a renewed popularity on that streaming service as it has recently returned to the Apple TV+ Top 10. But don’t expect that to result in a fourth season of the show getting a greenlight anytime soon as Momoa is quite in demand these days and busy with other projects.
Production has begun on Season 5 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a Twilight Zone movie, Season 3 of Interview with the Vampire Season 3, and more. You can read more about those in the latest Sci Fi TV Production Report post.
In scheduling news, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 has received a premiere date of September 7th and you can see the teaser for that at this link.
The Twilight Zone will be getting a new ongoing comic book anthology in black and white from IDW Dark. The first issue goes on sale September 24th.
