Why Watch It?

When Lost first arrived in 2004 on ABC, sci fi was mostly shunned by the broadcast networks and the show played down its genre elements early in its run.   But it delivered an interesting set of characters and delved into their backstories while also hinting at the mysteries of the island and a grander story that was unfolding.  The show would prove to be a surprise hit and would continue for six seasons and it started to fully embrace its sci fi side by its second year.  When it eventually wrapped up, the finale was divisive, but the story of the characters and the island still made the journey worth the effort.  Lost is an intricate tale with intertwining storylines and a plethora of characters that stand out beyond just the principles, and it is one of those shows that deserves to be revisited and that would benefit from binge-viewing.  (Read more about the show at this link.)

Where Is It Streaming?

All six seasons of Lost are currently streaming on both Hulu and Amazon’s Freevee service.  Hulu is a subscription-based service that starts at $6.99 per month for a plan that includes ads and $12.99 per month for no ads. There is also a bundle available which includes Disney+ and ESPN+.  That service has some notable genre originals like The Handmaid’s Tale, The Orville, and Devs, and it has a pretty large selection of past shows as well.  (More on Hulu at this link).  Freevee (formerly known as IMDb TV) is owned by Amazon and it is a free streaming service with ads.  It currently does not have any sci fi TV originals, but it is adding scripted programming.  It has a notable selection of past shows including The X-Files, Space: 1999, The Greatest American Hero, Dark Shadows (1966), and more.
