Breaking News: The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Is Coming to an End at Netflix

Yet another Netflix show hits the wall as the supernatural drama The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be ending with the upcoming Part 4. Technically, the show has had two seasons each broken into two parts, but overall they are referred to as Parts 1 thru 4 of the show. But no matter how you look at it, the series will be ending right at the stretch limit of Netflix series these days. Originals for that streamer tend to run three to four seasons of eight to ten episodes each. Sabrina’s four parts will total thirty-six episodes which puts it at the upper end of the episode count for a Netflix show.

The creative team was informed in advance that Part 4 would be the show’s last, so that will give them the opportunity to wrap up most of its storylines even though they had hoped to continue the show for more seasons. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa had this to say about the series coming to an end:

I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it.

The show started off as a spin-off of The CW’s Riverdale, but the connection to that series was broken when it moved to Netflix. Whether fans will try to lobby The CW to continue the show for the Part 5 teased by Aguirre-Sacasa remains to be seen.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina focuses on the young hero of the title who must reconcile her dual nature as a half-Witch, half-mortal while also using her powers to protect those around her from the forces of evil.  It stars Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez and is based on the Archie comic of the same name.
