What Is It?
In the quiet rural town of Wausau, Wisconsin, an eerie phenomenon that comes to be known as “Revival Day” occurs when the deceased inexplicably rise from their graves—only they aren’t mindless zombies. These “Revivers” return fully intact, complete with memories, personalities, and even regenerative healing powers. As the town descends into fear and lockdown, Officer Dana Cypress is drawn into a mysterious murder case where both the living and undead are suspects.

Why Watch It?
This series arrived on Syfy’s schedule in the Summer of 2025 with very little notice, and it looked very much like yet another take on the French supernatural drama The Returned. But it actually diverged notably from that format and instead offered an interesting twist on the zombie tale with maybe a little sci fi thrown in as well. The always enjoyable Melanie Scrofano leads up the series, but she is surrounded by a pretty solid cast that does a good job with the better-than-expected scripts handed to them, and the first season of the show is rather engaging (you can read my full review at this link).
While Syfy did very little to promote the series, it started to develop some good word-of-mouth and positive buzz through its first-year run. But the network went completely silent on it, and by all indications seems to have given up on the show (more on that at this link). It never received an official cancellation, though, so perhaps its run on Netflix offers a second chance, and maybe that streamer will consider continuing the story.
Where Is It Streaming?
Revival was previously streaming on Syfy’s website and app (though only five episodes) and also on Peacock. But as of August 24th, the entire first season is now exclusively on Netflix (though you can also purchase it VOD). Fans should definitely look at this as an opportunity to bring it some attention, and they should start staging watch parties on that service and also do subscription drives to convince people to sign up for the streamer (you can see the plan options at this link), and perhaps it will make it into Netflix Top 10 (you can find more fan campaign ideas at this link). This is likely not an expensive series to produce, and the streamers are looking for cheaper scripted original options, so maybe this one could experience a revival on its new home.
