Over the past few years, I have been tracking the decline in the number of sci fi and fantasy shows available each season that has been a persistent trend since Peak TV hit its crest around 2022. And after a three-year drop, for the first time that has slowed, if not come to an end. The 2025-26 season just wrapped up, and there were 74 total genre entries that aired or streamed over that year. That is a slight increase from the 72 in the 2024-25 season, and could indicate a turnaround from the declines we were previously seeing.

The numbers have turned around, though just barely, and that could suggest that things are leveling off, or it could just be a temporary respite. There are still plenty of pressures on the entertainment industry, especially with the current state of the economy. And I take all these factors into consideration in my deep dive view that considers whether the perceived market correction has come to an end or if we are still facing a bursting of the bubble.
