Sci Fi TV Premieres: Here is a rundown of all the new and returning sci fi and fantasy TV shows and original movies that will have a premiere in the current month. This information is based on premieres announced at the time of this posting (though check back for updates) and will include trailers if available. Note that premiere dates and times can change with little or no notice.
April holds steady with March with six premieres for sci fi and fantasy TV shows, four of which are new entries. Those include the animated Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, the Handmaid’s Tale sequel series The Testaments, the sci fi comedy The Miniature Wife, and the animated Stranger Things spin-off Stranger Things: Tales from 85. Returning shows are The Boys which is back for its fifth and final season. and From which returns for its fourth season. Also, on April 17th, the original film Hive premieres on Tubi, and on April 19th, Fox’s animated fantasy Krapopolis will return from hiatus to air its Season 3 finale. Star Wars: Maul – The Shadow Lord NEW SERIES, April 6th
Star Wars: Maul – The Shadow Lord, Disney+: Set after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, this pulpy adventure finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who could be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge.
The Boys (Season 5), April 8th
The Boys, Prime Video: Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It’s the climax, people.
The Testaments NEW SERIES, April 8th
The Testaments, Hulu: Years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, this new series is a coming-of-age story that finds a new generation of young women in Gilead grappling with the bleak future that awaits them.
The Miniature Wife NEW SERIES, April 9th
The Miniature Wife, Peacock: Based on the short story written by Manuel Gonzales, this dramedy series exames the power (im)balances between spouses after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis.
Hive (Original Movie), April 17th
Hive, Tubi: When a strict, anxious teen loses the child she’s babysitting, she’s forced to confront a sinister presence hiding among playground children as her grip on reality slips.
From (Season 4), April 19th
From, MGM+: In Season Four, the closer the residents of town get to the answers they seek, the more terrifying their search becomes. Who is the Man in Yellow, and what does he want? Will Jade and Tabitha’s revelation be the key to finally going home? How much longer can Boyd hold the town together, even as his body and mind are falling apart? And what role will the town’s most recent arrival play in the events to come?
Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 NEW SERIES, April 23rd
Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, Netflix: Set between Seasons 2 and 3, Tales From ’85 follows Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and Max during what appears to be a peaceful winter break filled with snowball fights and Dungeons & Dragons sessions. But when a mysterious threat awakens beneath the snow-covered streets of Hawkins, the young heroes must uncover its source and save their town once more.
