Gen V has done a good job of carrying on the legacy of The Boys so far, but there has been no word from Amazon yet on whether it will continue to a third season.
What Is It?
This spin-off from The Boys follows a group of young super-powered students attending Godolkin University, a prestigious school run by the powerful Vought corporation that trains aspiring heroes. As they compete for top rankings and the chance to join the elite superhero team known as The Seven, the students begin uncovering disturbing secrets about the university and the true nature of their powers.

Why Is It in Danger?
When this series premiered in Fall 2023, it drew high marks as a good continuation of The Boys franchise, and it performed relatively well in viewership. Its numbers were not as good as the parent series, but it spent four weeks in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings and averaged 335 million minutes of viewing per week. The show received a pretty quick renewal announcement, and it seemed to be off to a good start.
When it returned two years later in Fall 2025, the viewership numbers continued to look strong as it pulled in a series-high 424 million minutes for the week of its second-season premiere. It dropped out of the Top 10 the next week, but it was facing some pretty stiff competition, including the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday. It did manage to sneak back into the rankings one more time, and overall its numbers seemed to be very similar to its first season. However, it has now been five months, and Amazon has been silent on the show’s future.
There are definitely plans for a third season and beyond, and Eric Kripke had this to say about the show last Fall:
We have a plan for Gen V Season 3, and we’re psyched about it, but we need enough viewers to watch Season 2 to justify Season 3. Now’s the time that they’re paying attention to the numbers. So don’t watch even a year from now. Turn on Prime and watch it now. If enough people watch then we’ll get a Season 3. Same applies to Vought Rising Season 1. We have plans for a Season 2, if we can. They’ve been nothing but supportive, and they’re giving us our opportunities. But it’s a business and we also have to deliver. So hopefully the audience shows up.
He seemed to be positive about the show’s fate to degree, but he definitely emphasized that people need to watch if they want it to continue to a third season.
What Can Fans Do to Help the Show?
The action needed from the fans is pretty simple at this point: they need to watch the show, just as Kripke said. The fact that Gen V only spent two weeks in the Nielsen Top 10 this last Fall had more to do with the stiff competition, and overall the viewership numbers were similar to the first season. But Amazon apparently wants to see more, so fans need to keep tuning in.
They should stage watch parties to try and get it back into the Nielsen Rankings, and also get the show trending on social media to bring it more attention. The Boys will be wrapping up with its upcoming fifth season, and Amazon will want to keep this franchise going, and they probably just need a bit of a nudge to give the greenlight to a third season of Gen V. If fans make a strong enough Call to Action, that could happen, and perhaps the show will continue beyond that.
