Status Updates
Gen V (Prime Video, Status: Renewal Possible): This spin-off from The Boys entered the Nielsen Streaming Charts for the week of its Season 2 premiere, placing at the Number 8 slot with an estimated 424 million minutes viewed. A third-season renewal for this one has not been announced yet, but the early numbers look promising, and I expect it will be back for at least one more year.
Ghosts (CBS, Status: Renewed): This supernatural comedy had its Season 5 premiere last Thursday and posted a 0.34 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 4.1 million total viewers. That is down from last season’s premiere, but that is the trend we have been seeing this year, and it was still one of the top-rated shows for the evening. It has already been renewed for a sixth season, and CBS may just be padding out a syndication package at this point, so it could stick around longer.
Alien: Earth (FX, Status: Renewal Possible): This Alien prequel series has not been in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings the last two weeks, indicating that viewership trailed off toward the end of its first season run. Noah Hawley has more seasons planned, but there has been no word on a renewal at this point. The show has developed somewhat of a following, and those fans should be making noise on the streaming services to help convince Disney to greenlight a second season. More on that at this link.
Futurama (Hulu, Status: Renewal Possible): This long-running animated comedy did not make it into the Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the week of its Season 13 premiere, even though all episodes were released at that time. It has still performed relatively well for Hulu, and it was renewed for a 14th season in advance, so it will stick around a while longer.

Cancellation/Renewal Score:
The second season of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft has received a December premiere date, and that will be its final season, so I have worked it into the score for the current season. Also, I incorrectly had Gen V as Renewed, so I have moved that back to Renewal Possible. That puts the score for the 2025-26 Season at 7 cancelled and ending sci fi and fantasy entries (33% of shows tracked) vs. 12 renewed (57%). Below are this season’s numbers, and you can see the list of shows and keep up with the score for the current and prior seasons throughout the week at our Cancellation Watch Page.
| Show Count | 21 | ||
| Cancelled | 2 | 9.5% | |
| Ending | 5 | 23.8% | 33.3% |
| Renewed | 12 | 57.1% | |
| On the Bubble | 0 | 0.0% | |
