Sci Fi TV News of Note:
Danielle Deadwyler (Station Eleven) is currently in talks to join Ryan Coogler’s reboot/revival of The X-Files. She will play one of the lead investigators and will have a male counterpart in the other lead role. Coogler is currently working on this with Chris Carter, though it is not completely clear if this is a ground-up reboot or a revival of the original series with new actors. Coogler has talked with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson about joining the show, but neither is officially onboard at this time.
Season 2 of Ahsoka has wrapped filming according to series co-star Natasha Liu Bordizzo. It has been over two years since the first season of the show premiered, and it will probably be a minimum of six months before the second season makes it to the small screen, as they now have to complete all of the sfx and post-production.
In scheduling news, HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has an official premiere date now of January 18, 2026 (you can see the trailer for that below), and Season 4 of Amazon’s Invincible has received a March 2026 window for its premiere (you can see the trailer for that at this link).
Coming out of NYCC this weekend is the news that Starfleet Academy will be premiering January 15th on Paramount+, and you can see the trailer for that at this link. In addition, Stephen Colbert announced that he will be providing the voice of the digital dean of students on that series. A first look at Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 was also released, and you can see that at this link.
Also at NYCC, a trailer was released for the upcoming Wonder Man series. That one was originally scheduled for a Fall 2025 release, but the official premiere date is now January 27th.
Also from NYCC, it was announced that Disney+’s animated series X-Men 97 has been renewed for a third season and that the second season will premiere Summer 2026.
