Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.
Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (AMC): Stranded in Western Europe, Daryl and Carol continue their perilous journey toward home, only to land in zombie-infested Spain, where they find themselves embroiled in a twisted local conflict involving corrupt leaders, disturbing customs, and desperate survivors. Season 3 premieres Sunday at 9 PM EST on AMC and AMC+.
Wednesday (Netflix): Desperate to avert her prophecy and save Enid’s life, Wednesday reopens a dark chapter in her family’s history — with direct ties to Tyler. The remaining four episodes from Season 2 will be available to view on Wednesday.
Schedule Notes:
Season 4 of Amazon’s Upload only has four episodes, and all of those were released last week (wrapping up the series). So there will be no new episodes this week as previously indicated. Below are the full listings for the current week, and you can see all of the premieres for September and beyond at this link. The two-week view of the schedule is available here.

Sci Fi TV News of Note:
James Gunn has said that he has no plans to retcon Season 1 of Peacemaker. The first season took place in the old DCU, spinning out of the second Suicide Squad movie. But the second season takes place in the new continuity, with characters from the recent Superman movie making cameo appearances in the first episode. The Season 1 finale showed silhouettes of the Justice League and had a brief conversation between Ezra Miller’s The Flash and Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman. In the Season 2 premiere, those were changed to Isabela Merced‘s Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion‘s Green Lantern, and according to Gunn, canon for the new DCU so far is Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker Season 2. He has indicated that he would like to go back and “Lucas the shit out of it”–meaning to retcon the entire first season–but the money is not there for that at this point.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will be coming to an end with its fourth season, and Dead City could wrap up around its third or fourth season. That would leave AMC with no active TWD shows, but apparently plans are in the works to continue the franchise. Scott M. Gimple, who has been TWD executive producer for some time now, has indicated that more shows are on the way, possibly further exploring international locations:
There’s one that we’re working on that I’m very, very excited to see that we’ve never been before. But I’d aIso love to see it in Tokyo, I would love to see it in Africa, and I would love to see it in Iceland. I know that’s a weird one, but we want to spam the globe because there’s stories all over the globe.
Nothing has been confirmed at this point, but it does seem like AMC will stick with the franchise for a while despite continuing declines in viewership.
As previously covered, a Star Trek series focusing on Jonathan Archer’s time as president of the Federation is possible, and Scott Bakula has confirmed that talks are ongoing for the series. Paramount previously passed on the idea, but it has been raised again, and the actor revealed at Star Trek Las Vegas that he is in negotiations. This will likely depend on the status of the franchise once the Skydance/Paramount merger has all settled into place–and the early indications are that they want more Trek–but the show could be moving forward at some point.
