Sci Fi TV Production Report: Tracking the sci fi and fantasy shows currently moving into development/production based on the listings from Production Weekly. Note that appearing on that list does not guarantee that the series will move forward.
Following are the genre entries of note included in the listings for May 29th and June 5th:
The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 (AMC)
There has been no official renewal announcement for TWD: Dead City, and the numbers are down for the show in its second year, but it does appear that AMC is on the verge of greenlighting a third season. That show is in the latest Production Weekly listings, and that does not come as a surprise. Season 4 of Daryl Dixon showed up in the listings a couple of weeks ago, and there has been no official announcement on that one either. But this is still the network’s biggest franchise, and I have a hard time believing that they would outright cancel either of these two shows. Dead City was originally billed as a mini-series, but Laura Cohen had indicated that it could continue for multiple seasons. I would not be surprised if the third season was announced as its last seeing it is the lower-rated of the two active TWD shows, but it is possible they might let it stick around longer. I will be keeping an eye out for an official announcement on these shows, but at this point it appears they still have some life in them.
The Ark Season 3 (Syfy)
This sci fi series showed up in the listings last week which comes a couple of months after the official renewal announcement. The plan is for the show to return in early 2026, and if filming starts soon, it should be on track for that. This series has received mixed reviews so far and its ratings have been on the low side, but it has developed somewhat of a following and perhaps it will stick around for a while.
Other genre entries from the listings for May 29th and June 5th: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 (Disney+), From Season 4 (MGM+), Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 (HBO), Supacell Season 2 (Paramount+).
