The Charts: The Last Man on Earth Leads Three Genre Series in the Broadcast Net Top 25 for the Week

Activity in the charts has been pretty uneventful lately, especially for the broadcast network sci fi / fantasy shows. But this past week saw three genre entries in the Top 25 based on the ratings in the 18-49 demo for the first time since Fall. FOX’s new entry The Last Man on Earth lead the way on that list at the Number 12 spot while that same network’s Gotham was two rungs behind at Number 14 as it works its way back up following a brief ratings slump. At Number 18 was ABC’s Once Upon A Time which returned on Sunday following a two and a half month hiatus. I expect to see that latter series as well as Last Man on Earth drop next week (the typical trend after a return/premiere), but there’s still a good chance that they will rank in the Top 25 for at least one more week (and perhaps through season end if they level out). Neither of those last two managed to rank in the Nielsen Twitter Ratings Top 10 for the week, but they were in the daily Top 5 for Sunday night. Also of note, Hallmark’s The Good Witch series premiere landed in the cable Top 25 for the week based on total viewers as that one scored well with its target audience. The General Sentiment Top 25 which measures social network activity for the broadcast went through a bit more of a shuffle than usual as most The CW entries were on break last week and thus did not make an appearance. Once Upon A Time was at Number 8 on that list while surprisingly The Last Man on Earth barely slipped in at Number 25. 12 Monkeys managed to creep back onto the General Sentiment Top 25 for cable shows and The Walking Dead of course again topped that chart for the week.
