Description: This series will be a continuation of the Star Trek franchise that will follow the adventures of the Discovery during the time period between Star Trek: TOS and Star Trek: TNG (and it will not take place in the alternate timeline created in the movie franchise). The following information on the show was revealed at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con according to

[Bryan] Fuller told the crowd that the new Star Trek series would carry on in franchise tradition and “continue to be progressive,” telling the “adventure of humankind.” Following similar statements in earlier interviews, he said the show will be “telling stories like a novel,” rather than the more episodic nature of past series.

This series will debut on CBS in early 2017 and then will move to the streaming service CBS All Access.  It will also be available on Netflix the day after episodes stream on CBS All Access.

Status: (Updated 9/16/16) This show’s premiere has been delayed to approximately May 2017 so that they can have more time to work on the special effects according to executive producer Bryan Fuller.
