Description: When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure. Trying to keep the peace on the streets is police officer Lex Carnahan, who has quickly risen through the ranks of the Atlanta PD. But Lex’s job becomes even harder when he learns that his longtime girlfriend, Jana, and his best friend and fellow officer Jake, are trapped within the cordoned area. CWTV.com
Why Was It Cancelled? Containment had the fortune of airing on the happy network that likes to renew almost all its shows regardless of the ratings, but it had the misfortune of being the odd show out. The CW had already renewed all its Fall and mid-season shows from the 2015-16 season before this one even debuted, leaving not much space on the schedule for next year. And since this is a Warner Bros. entry and the network already had a heavy helping from that studio because of its DC shows, Containment apparently got squeezed out as CBS Studios wanted some of their own entries on the upcoming schedule (WB and CBS are joint owners of The CW). They tried to play this show off as a “limited run” series, but we have been stung by that lie too many times now, and the way the show wrapped up indicates that it had plenty more story to tell. Fans of this show may want to seek out the Belgian-made Cordon which Containment was based on, as that one appears to have given a better resolution. But the American version looks like it will be left without a proper ending to all its storylines.
