Description: “BrainDead” follows a young, fresh-faced Hill staffer (Winstead) getting her first job in Washington, D.C. and discovering two things: The government has stopped working, and something mysterious is happening to a growing number of Congressmen and Hill staffers.

Why Was It Cancelled? After a long wait, CBS finally announced the expected cancellation of this show. It bowed with only a 0.7 rating based on the overnights for the 18-49 demographic which are poor numbers even for a Summer series. Its numbers went down and it got shifted from Monday to Sunday nights allegedly because of the network’s coverage of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. But its numbers slipped even further in the new timeslot and cancellation seemed assured at that point. The series came from the producers of The Good Wife and it’s possible that the delay could have been caused because they were trying to work out a deal like moving the show to the CBS All Access streaming service or Amazon continuing the series on its own (they partnered with CBS on this one). But if that was the case, nothing came of it, and Braindead joins the ever-increasing heap of one-season-and-out shows in the Too-Much-TV-Era.
