Status:  (Updated 3/25/17) Syfy has renewed this show for a third season, but its linear viewing numbers are way down which is concerning. If fans want this one to continue beyond its upcoming third year, they should join the Call to Action and get the word out about it, especially as it wraps up its second season.

SyFy’s comparison of this show to “Game of Thrones” seems a bit more ambitious than “The Expanse” is necessarily able to live up to, but I’m enjoying “The Expanse” quite a bit – I think it’s one of the better sci-fi shows to hit the air in quite a while, and it deserves a bit more attention than the ratings seem to suggest it’s gotten. Hopefully, audiences will give this another chance in binge-watching after the holidays, and keep the show going long enough to hit its stride and become a fixture with sci-fi fans.

The writing on this show is really good, with a story arc that progresses markedly in each episode. There are surprising plot twists throughout, and great acting. I’m definitely looking forward to next season.

I wasn’t aware of how much I missed this one until it came back swinging for its second season. Solid writing and acting, likeable characters, and each episode feels like it’s adding to a greater whole (not a filler episode in sight so far!)

DVR numbers are good. Online streaming numbers are good. Reception is excellent. The target audience has lots of cable-cutters, season passes sales are very good (just check the itunes rankings). The show is based on successful books that provide a good fanbase that could grow fast and be a good market for merchandising, cross-media and such.

Unless Syfy’s choice to buy the US distribution rights (and maybe helf finance it but ALCON is still footing most of the bill) wasn’t some desperate hail-mary from a dying cable network, but a long-term choice, then I don’t see how they could “cancel” it, and even if they did, the production company could find another network to broadcast it (maybe even end it with Amazon Prime Video and go with worldwide Netflix).

Where are you seeing the online streaming numbers. That is data I would definitely like to get my hands on.
