Cancellation Watch Breaking News: What We Do in the Shadows Renewed for Second Season

FX has give a second season renewal to its mockumentary comedy What We Do in the Shadows. That show is currently airing its first season and the second year has received a greenlight with a targeted 2020 debut. The renewal was definitely not a sure thing as the show has only averaged a 0.17 rating based on same day viewing for the 18-49 demographic thus far in its first year. It started out with decent numbers but has seen those drop over the last few weeks. This one has seen decent gains in delayed viewing, though, and the cable channels tend to pay more attention to those stats than the old school broadcast networks. The show may also be doing well in international viewing, another thing that the cable nets factor in when determining the success of a show.

What We Do in the Shadows is a mock documentary that follows three vampires who have been living together for hundreds of years in Staten Island. It stars Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillén and is based on the 2014 New Zealand film of the same name.

We are down to the wire on the regular season so expect more renewal and cancellation announcements to be rolling out over the next few days and into next week. Be sure to stay tuned to this site and the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site for breaking news as well as the latest ratings results.
