Cancellation Watch Breaking News: Hulu Renews Future Man for Third and Final Season

Hulu has renewed its sci fi comedy series Future Man for a third season. That show debuted on the streaming service in 2017 and has been generally well-received though it has also flown mostly under the radar through its first two seasons. And following a trend that we seem to be seeing from the streamers, the show will be capped off with its third season which will be its last. Original series on these services appear to be drawing in new viewers when they first debut, but then produce diminishing returns with subsequent seasons, especially those that that do no attract much attention during awards season. Whether three to four seasons will become the expected duration for shows on the streaming services remains to be seen, and I will be looking at that further in an upcoming post.

Future Man follows a janitor who is also a master gamer and who finds himself recruited to help in the real-life war that his favorite game is based on. It stars Josh Hutcherson, Eliza Coupe, Derek Wilson, Ed Begley, Jr., Glenne Headly and is executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The third season will debut at some point in 2020.

As we head into the final months of the regular season, expect more news as well as renewal and cancellation announcements. Be sure to stay tuned to this site and the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site for breaking news as well as the latest ratings results.

  1. I remember turning off the first episode of *Future Man* within a few minutes. It was pointlessly crude without being funny, so why bother?
