Cancellation Watch: Beyond and Falling Water Remain On the Bubble

Ratings Results of Interest: On Thursday, Freeform’s Beyond improved just slightly to a 0.08 rating based on same day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 233K total viewers. That show was renewed last year despite low ratings, but it is performing below the numbers that got Stitchers cancelled last Summer, so it remains firmly On the Bubble and could definitely use a Call to Action from its fans. Over on NBC, The Good Place wrapped up its second season with a 1.1 rating and 3.2 million total viewers and it is already set for a third season return.

On Friday, CBS’ MacGyver slipped from its last new episode posting a 0.9 rating with 7.3 million total viewers. It will likely remain in the Top 25 for the week based on total viewers, but this is the time of year that CBS shows rarely airs more than two consecutive new episodes at a time. We will have to see how that impacts its numbers over the coming weeks.

On Saturday, USA’s Falling Water held steady at a 0.13 rating with 433K total viewers. Those numbers may be good enough for its Saturday timeslot and the show does have an exclusive streaming deal with Amazon. But I am keeping it On the Bubble for now and fans should definitely support this one with a Call to Action. On Sunday, Starz’s Counterpart slipped to a 0.08 rating with 299K total viewers, though it was up against the Super Bowl. That one was picked up for two seasons in advance, so it has some time to build its audience.
