The Network Executioner’s Short List: Frequency and Falling Water are on the List, Timeless is on the Radar

frequency-cw-cancelledTwo more shows have moved up to my Short List as The CW’s Frequency and USA’s Falling Water have been underperforming so far this season. The fifth place network usually doesn’t give me the chance to get one of its Fall shows since it loves to do those blanket renewals, but considering how low Frequency currently is and how much of its lead-in from The Flash it is losing, I might just find that one on my chopping block. And USA’s Falling Water has performed much lower than last season’s Colony did in the same timeslot, and that one looks like it could be heading my way.

Moving on the radar is NBC’s Timeless which has been wasting is massive lead-in from The Voice so far this season as it continues to pull middling numbers. And the fact that it only received a pickup of three additional episodes for its first season instead of the typical Back 9 suggests that NBC has lost confidence in the show. El Rey’s From Dusk Till Dawn has come onto my radar as well seeing as the actors have been released from their contracts after the third season ended. We will supposedly hear final word on that show early in 2017. BBC America’s Dirk Gently series has had less than impressive numbers so far, but its Netflix contract could keep it out of my grasp. And it is time to move Son of Zorn onto my radar as it keeps pulling low numbers when it doesn’t have a strong lead-in giving it a boost.

  1. I think that frequency is a great show…I feel that if it was moved to a different network it would fare better in ratings. The CW caters to a younger audience although I love Arrow and the Originals, I’m 62…I really hope Frequency finds a new home.
