Unless otherwise noted, the ratings numbers below are based on the final overnights and may vary slightly from the preliminaries reported on the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site.
FOX Wants to Believe: At the TCAs this week, FOX talked about what is going on with the X-Files reboot and whether we can expect another season (to resolve that huge cliffhanger Season 10 ended on). They indicated that “significant talks” are still ongoing and that they want to do an eleventh season (which would again be around six episodes). But they have to work it out around the schedules of David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Chris Carter, and the rest involved. It seems rather odd that all of that was not worked out in advance because the revival definitely seemed to be setting up a continuation of the story and failed to provide any sort of resolution as originally promised (actually, it did the exact opposite). Season 10 drew very high ratings for FOX (though they did drop off notably across the six-episode run), and the network has every incentive to bring it back. And it seems the principals would would want to the show to have a better resolution or at least not leave fans hanging, so I’m thinking a deal will be worked out. But as previously mentioned, the earliest it would hit the schedule would be the 2017-18 season.
Ratings Results of Interest: On Friday, both of Syfy’s space opera shows slipped in the ratings after seeing improvements the prior week. Killjoys slipped to a 0.13 rating based on the overnights for the 18-49 demographic with 550k total viewers and Dark Matter slipped to a 0.15 rating with 650k total viewers. The numbers have been fluctuating for these shows the last few weeks, so they could rebound this coming Friday. And they have been doubling their viewership when the delayed viewing numbers are tallied. Plus, Syfy has a partnership with the Canadian Space Channel on these, so that makes them less expensive to the network. Seeing as 12 Monkeys and Wynonna Earp were renewed with lower season averages, I believe that both Killjoys and Dark Matter are mostly okay as long as the partnership with the Space Channel is lucrative enough. On Wednesday, USA’s Mr. Robot slipped to a series low 0.24 rating with 710k total viewers. But as that show remains an Emmy darling, it has a decent chance of surviving to a third season. Note that on Sunday, The Last Ship aired a repeat (which will do nothing to help its lagging ratings), but resumes new episodes this coming week.

Chart Activity: No sci fi / fantasy shows were in the Weekly Nielsen Twitter Rating Top 10 for the week. Zoo managed to climb back into the broadcast network Top 25 based on total viewers for the week and it also made it into the Top 25 based on the overnights for the 18-49 demographic for the first. Likely because competition was not too still for the week.

I really like Wayward Pines…I liked this season…I love the way it ended and it gives mankind a possible future…I really hope its renewed.
