Unless otherwise noted, the ratings numbers below are based on the final overnights and may vary slightly from the preliminaries reported on the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site.
AMC’s martial arts sci fi series Into the Badlands slipped to a 0.83 rating based on 
the overnights for the 18-49 demographic with 2.2 million total viewers for its Season 1 finale. That show has dropped each week without its Walking Dead lead-in, but it is still pulling decent numbers for a cable entry these days and this one will likely play well to international audiences, so I am thinking it remains on track for a second season. Series star Daniel Wu has already claimed that AMC has picked it up for Year 2, but I haven’t seen an official confirmation just yet. Keep a close eye on this site and the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site over the next few days, though, because I expect the announcement to come pretty soon.
I covered Syfy’s ratings woes from the debuts of Childhood’s End, The Expanse, and The Magicians last week at this link. And most of the other current sci fi / fantasy shows are on their Winter breaks at the moments. But for those still airing, I have comments on them below.
And here’s a quick round up of announcements / news from last week: The Man in the High Castle was renewed for a second season, The Librarians was renewed for a third season, the mid-season schedule is now available at this link. This show saw no improvement for its Fall finale numbers. It’s season to date numbers still look okay, but if its ratings do not improve when it returns in January then I don’t like its prospects for a second season. Returns from hiatus on January 4th.
Chart Activity: With less competition for the week, this show improved to Number 19 (up from Number 25) in the broadcast network Top 25 based on the overnights for the 18-49 demographic and Number 18 (also up from Number 25) in the Top 25 based on total viewers.
